FAQ

You have questions? We have answers.

Are these products safe if I’m pregnant or nursing?

All of our products are considered pregnancy and nursing friendly. We always recommend consulting with your OB prior to use.

I just started my new routine and I’m noticing increased breakouts. Is this normal?

Possibly, but proceed with care. Active ingredients accelerate cell turnover, which can bring existing congestion to the surface and temporarily trigger breakouts. Introduce the butter slowly, patch test first, hydrate, and wear SPF. Watch your skin closely, and if breakouts are painful, spreading, irritated, or persist, stop use and see a dermatologist.

How often should I use the product?

Use The Brightening Butter daily. We recommend morning and evening.

The Brightening Butter appears white when I first blend it in. Is this normal?

The Brightening Butter is a non-toxic and silicone free emulsified formula, so this is normal and to be expected. What you are experiencing is known as the “soaping effect”, a common phenomenon in emulsified creams. The white film dissolves into the skin and fades quickly.

Can I apply serums before The Brightening Butter?

We formulated the brightening butter to function as a serum and moisturizer in one in order to minimize the steps in your routine. With our highest concentration of 12 active ingredients, additional serums are not necessary but you may use them.

Do I need to wear SPF in addition to The Brightening Butter?

We always recommend wearing SPF protection daily, applying as your last step after The Brightening Butter.

Are your products non-toxic or “clean”?

Meeting or exceeding most clean beauty standards, every Apér Labs formula is free from sulfates, SLS, PEGs, triclosan, phenoxyethanol, mineral oil, parabens, silicones, artificial fragrances, petroleum by-products, oxybenzone, and octinoxate.

Are your products sustainable or safe for the environment?

Apér Labs’ formulations are sustainable by design. We are passionate about water-safe formulations, so we opt out of using ingredients that show evidence of bioaccumulation in aquatic life or are not readily biodegradable.

Are Apér Labs’ products recyclable?

The glass jars are recyclable or reusable.
